EUREKA – The Eureka College volleyball team dropped a 25-20, 25-16, 25-19 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match to Webster, Friday night at the Reagan Athletic Complex.

Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw H.S.) led the Red Devils with 14 kills and 33 total attacks. Runa Akagawa (Saitama, Japan/Ritsumeikan Keisho) and Madison Gayheart (Penfield, Ill./Armstrong H.S.) led the team with 19 digs.

In the first set the Red Devils played the visitors tight all throughout the set until eventually dropping the set by three, 25-22.

In the second set, the Red Devils could not seem to get their footing and dropped the frame 25-16. The Gorloks went on a four-point run to end the set.

In set three, the Red Devils scored the first three points and kept the score within four points and, at multiple stages, tied. Eureka eventually dropped the third and final set, 25-19

The Red Devils look to bounce back tomorrow morning when they host a pair of matches. First Eureka will play host to the Spalding Golden Eagles at 11 a.m. and then round out the day matching up against the Lincoln Christian Red Lions in a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
