Red Devils Secure SLIAC Split Saturday

ELSAH, Ill. -- The Eureka College volleyball team split a pair of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches, Saturday in Elsah, Ill. The Red Devils took down MacMurray in the afternoon session, 25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16 and fell to host Principia in the early match, 25-16, 25-22, 25-15.

Heather Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Bartonville H.S.) produced a triple-double for the Red Devils in the afternoon victory over the Highlanders, totaling 12 kills, 18 assists and 17 digs. Anna Crank (Washburn, Ill./Midland H.S./Clarke) put down a match-high 18 kills. Sara Worrell (Jacksonville, Ill./Routt Catholic H.S.) tallied 26 assists.

The victory over the Highlanders ended a streak of nine consecutive SLIAC defeats against MC and was the Red Devils' first neutral-site win in the series since Oct. 8, 2011.

Robinson and Crank put down eight kills apiece to lead the Red Devils in their morning defeat versus Principia. McKenna Cleer (Havana, Ill./Havana H.S.) logged 22 digs and Worrell had 13 of EC's 26 assists.

Eureka will be back home Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start against Monmouth at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena. The Fighting Scots topped the Red Devils in five sets last month in Monmouth.
