ST. LOUIS - Westminster women's basketball dropped a close battle against Webster, falling 63-60.

The Blue Jays fall to 10-8 overall and 5-4 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. 

"We talk all the time about how rough it is to win on the road in league play and today was just another example of that," said Westminster Head Coach James Arnold. "We just had too many turnovers in key moments that kept us from securing the victory." 

Westminster started the game with a 6-0 run on four points from Kendahl Adams. Webster wasn't able to score until the 6:20 mark of the first quarter, but followed their drought with a 6-0 run of their own to tie the game halfway through the opening 10 minutes. A slow start for both teams resulted in a 10-10 tie at the end of the quarter. 

The Blue Jays were able to double their offensive production in the the secong quarter, scoring 20 points to Webster's 17. The Gorloks went up by as many as five points, but a 12-2 sparked by a Mikalyn Callahan three-pointer gave the Blue Jays the lead with under a minute remaining in the half, finishing with a 30-27 lead. 

Webster started the second half out with an 8-0 run with Westminster unable to score until three minutes in when Adams hit a freethrow. Adams and Grace Archambault combined to score five more points to put Westminster back within one point. At the 1:40 mark, Adams hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 43, at hit two more freethrows to give the Blue Jays a 46-45 lead going into the final 10 minutes of the game. 

The Blue Jays held their lead until Webster pulled ahead at the 6:27 mark, but after Callahan hit a three-pointer and a Gorlok freethrow, the game was tied at 54 for over a minute until Webster went on a 6-0 run with under three minutes to play. Archambault hit a jump shot with 13 seconds to play to put Westminster within five, and Marrokohl Johnson ended the game with a layup, but it wasn't enough to pull Westminster back in the lead. 

"The good news is that we had a really good chance to win on the road against a good team and we didn't play well," said Arnold. "We showed some great physical toughness and worked really hard."

Kendahl Adams led the Blue Jays with 18 points and four assists. Callahan added 10 points and six rebounds. 

Westminster returns home to face Greenville Wednesday at 6 p.m.
