Men's soccer topped at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The men's soccer team suffered a 5-1 loss at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday despite holding an early 1-0 lead.

The Panthers took the advantage in the 32nd minute when Charles Dalton scored his second goal of the season after a throw in.  Sam Ortiz provided the assist.

The Titans recovered and tied the score at 1-1 less than one minute later, and the score stood at 1-1 at halftime.

Illinois Wesleyan posted four unanswered goals in the second half with the game winning goal coming in the 47th minute.

The Panthers took five shots in the contest and they were led by Christian Gomez and Caleb Carpenter with two each.

Goalkeeper Nick Holland produced eight saves against a Illinois Wesleyan offense that took 20 shots.

The Panthers (4-4) travel to Washington-St. Louis for a match on Tuesday night.
