ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team split the doubleheader with Washington University in St. Louis this Wednesday afternoon. The Griffins improve to 9-11 on the season.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team split the doubleheader with Washington University in St. Louis this Wednesday afternoon. The Griffins improve to 9-11 on the season.
Game One:
The Griffins took a 4-3 win in nine innings against the Bears.
- Both teams remained scoreless until the top of eighth inning when they both scored two runs and tied the game once again.
- Mackenzie Howell hit a sacrifice fly scoring Madelyn Holtmeyer.
- Kassidy Chrisco scored for the Griffins on a single from Grace Paez.
- Lilly Jones and Allysa Ibarra both went 2-for-4.
- Jaynanne Roate, Patience Vandermierden, Madelyn Holtmeyer, and Kassidy Chrisco each scored a run for the Griffins.
Hailey Kutz (3-4) was credited with the win in the circle. She pitched 9.0 innings and struck out three while allowing five hits and three runs.
Game Two:
The Griffins fell to the Bears, 6-1.
- Ashley Carrow was the lone Griffin who scored a run.
- Lilly Jones, Ashley Carrow, and Madelyn Holtmeyer went 1-for-3.
- Allyssa Ibarra went 2-for-3.
- Patience Vadermierden and Ellie Bartlett both went 1-for-2.
Kami Matthews (3-4) grabbed the loss in the circle. She pitched 2.2 innings and allowed five hits and five runs. Hannah Borgmeyer pitched 3.0 innings. She struck out one, allowed four hits one run. Sam Foppe pitched 0.1 inning.
