CLARKSVILLE, Ar. - Westminster women's soccer had several chances to score against a strong Ozarks team, but ultimately fell short 1-0.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-3 on the year. 

"We got off to a slow start but as the game went on, the team settled in," said Westminster Head Coach Wendy Sanchez. "Once we started to pick up the intensity and make some adjustments, we started to create opportunities to score. Today we just couldn't find the back of the net."

After holding the Eagles scorless for the opening 24 minutes, Ozarks ripped a ball past keeper Sarah Cradick to go up 1-0 in the 25th minute. 

Despite a strong offensive attack from Westminster, outshooting Ozarks 6-5 in the first half, the Blue Jays couldn't connect with the back of the net. 

Both Gracie Koonce and Cara Wilfong added three shots apiece while Kate Ponder added two. 

Cradick played all 90 minutes in goal, making four saves. 

"Althought we didn't get the result we wanted," said Sanchez, "I'm very happy to see that we are growing every match and improving as a team."

Westminster stays in Arkansas to finish the weekend Sunday at Hendix. The match is set for 12 p.m.
