Westminster Men's Soccer Drops to Central

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster men's soccer suffered a 3-1 loss to Central.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-4-1 on the year with the loss.

The Dutch opened the scoring in the first half in the 16th minute and scored again in the 28th minute to make the score 2-0.

Westminster got on the board with their lone goal of the game last in the first half in the 41st minute. Mauricio Mateo netted a ball on a pass from Patrick Bromstedt to go into the locker rooms 2-1.

"We got off to a slow start but we showed some fight as the game went along," said Westminster Head coach Adam Galla. "It's always tough playing back-to-back games, especially against quality opponents. These games should help us for conference play."

Despite a strong defensive effort from the Blue Jays in the second half, the Dutch scored their final goal in the 73rd minute to ensure a victory.

Along with the goal from Mateo, Daniel Barone also had two shots and good attempts on goal.

Connor Bandre' played all 90 minutes in goal, making five saves.
