GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team won the first game of their regular season ending series against Spalding to keep their hopes alive for the SLIAC Eastern Division championship.  The Panthers took a 3-2 victory as Mike Hardin hit the go-ahead home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Spalding took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Greenville gained a 2-1 advantage in the fourth.  Spalding had tied the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth prior to Hardin's heroics.

Greenville scored their fourth inning runs when the Panthers got an RBI single from Shane Olmsted on a ball that fell in behind the first baseman and Austin Marsh produced an RBI single.

Starting pitcher Jonah Moore threw six three-hit innings for the Panthers, only permitting two earned runs.  He struck out five and walked three as he improved to 8-1.

Austin Rexroad pitched two scoreless innings of relief, and Klaiton Wolff closed out the Golden Eagles for his sixth save.

The Panthers tagged undefeated Spalding pitcher Jimi Keating with his first loss of the season as Keating fell to 11-1.

The Panthers (24-14, 14-6 SLIAC) will play Spalding in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday for the Eastern Division title.  The Panthers will tie for the division with two wins but would win the tiebreaker for the higher seed in the conference tournament.  Prior to the second game, Greenville will honor its seniors.
