MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – The Bethel University women's soccer team had day for the record books Sunday afternoon with a 15-0 victory over Iowa Wesleyan University. The Royals scored 11 times in the first period and tacked on four more goals in the second half while setting a new Bethel record for most goals scored in a game. Seven different Royals scored goals on offense while the defense was equally as impressive in the game, not allowing the Tigers a single shot in the entire contest.

Maggie Sipe led the way for Bethel, tying the Bethel individual record of four goals in one game. Sipe got off 14 shots, 12 on goal, and added an assist to go along with her four goals. Freshman
Sophie Kendall needed just three shots in the second period to score the first three goals of her collegiate career, including two in less than two minutes. Three other Royals scored two goals in the game.
Samantha Provost, like Kendall, had a perfect percentage of shots to goals scoring twice on just two attempts.
Brooke Ogne scored twice while getting off nine shots, four on goal. In all the Royals took 64 shots with 38 shots on goal.
Sarah Gielau scored her first two collegiate goals as she scored the first goal of the game for Bethel in the sixth minute and then closed out the scoring with the last goal in the 83
rd minute. Freshman
Liz Olson and
Kenzie Boozikee scored back to back goals, the first of their collegiate careers, within a 3:17 span late in the first period.

Bethel's previous record for most goals scored in a game came back in 2009 against Martin Luther College when the Royals totaled 13 goals. BU's next action will be on Thursday night as they will travel down Snelling Avenue to take on the University of Northwestern Eagles at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Field.Â
