Men's soccer manages 2-1 win over Maranatha Baptist

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team earned their first victory of their 2018 season with a 2-1 triumph over Maranatha Baptist on Saturday.

The Panthers dominated the field of play for the majority of the game, piling up an astounding 33 shots in the contest.

Despite the offensive control, the Panthers found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime after MBU's goal in the 26th minute.

In the second half, Greenville received a pair of penalty kick goals from Juan Jose Herranz who deposited shots in the 50th and 82nd minutes.

Adam Jones managed the most shots for Greenville with five, and two players - Jared McPeek and Napoleon Urquidi - had four shots.

Goalkeeper Nick Holland faced four shots, all on goal, and picked up three saves.

The Panthers (1-1) host Rose-Hulman on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Francis Field.
