Men's soccer caps active four day span with 8-0 win

EUREKA, Ill. - The men's soccer team rolled to a 8-0 win over Eureka on Tuesday afternoon. With two goals from Napoleon Urquidi, three assists by Claudio Trevino, and a shutout by Pedro Vebber, the Panthers dominated the Red Devils.

The Panthers managed to score six of their eight goals over a 22 minute span in the middle of the contest, but it was Pablo Valverde's goal in the 17th minute of the match that broke the scoreless tie and jumpstarted the Panther offense. In Valverde's goal, Trevino added an assist.

Starting in the 37th minute, the Panthers added goals from Napoleon Urquidi and Enrique Yanguas before halftime and grabbed a 3-0 lead going to the locker room.

When the match resumed after the intermission, Urquidi collected his second goal of the match in the 47th minute and Lucas Soares tallied a goal in the 48th minute to make the score 5-0. In the 52nd minute, Pedro Gonzalez-Moro posted a goal, and Jared McPeek joined the scoring parade in the 58th minute.

In the final minute of the match, Maximilliano Castillo finished the Panther scoring.

Overall, GU held a 33-2 advantage in shots.

Goalkeeper Vebber gained the shutout but only had to stop on shot in the first half.

The Panthers (4-5, 2-1 SLIAC) continue their season on the road on Saturday at Blackburn.
