Women's soccer wins second straight

JACKSON, Miss. -- The women's soccer team won the first match of a two-day trip to Mississippi with a 3-1 triumph over Belhaven on Friday night.

Greenville received a six-save effort from goalkeeper Marjory Coates in the victory.

The Panthers fell behind 1-0 in the 11th minute of the match, but Greenville tied it in the 35th minute on Molly McDonnell's fourth goal of the year.

After the half, Greenville took the lead on Megan Taylor's game-winning goal-scoring strike, and McDonnell added an insurance goal, her team-high fifth of the year, with 4:55 remaining.

Greenville recorded eight shots in the contest, and they permitted 14 shots.

Both of McDonnell's shots found the net, and Taylor converted one of her two shots.

The Panthers (3-1) travel to Millsaps for a 5 p.m. match on Saturday.
