Seven Named to D3Baseball.com All-Central Region Team; Webster's Kurich Named Central Region Coach of the Year

ST. LOUIS - Seven St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) baseball players have been named to the 2013 D3Baseball.com All-Central Region Team, and Webster University head coach, Bill Kurich, has been named the Central Region Coach of the Year.

Webster's Isaac Behme and Steven Dooley both received Second Team honors, along with Spalding University's Derek Ferch. Ferch, a shortstop, finished the season with a .339 batting average with 58 hits, including nine doubles, one triple and one home run. He also had 33 RBI and 37 runs scored. In the field he had a .930 fielding percentage with 122 assists, 65 putouts and 28 double plays.

Behme, a starting pitcher, currently has a 2.76 ERA in 78.1 innings on the mound. He is also 9-3 in 13 starts, including two complete games, and has struckout a total of 65 batters. Dooley, also a starting pitcher, is 10-2 on the mound with two complete games in 15 total appearances, including 13 starts. He has a 2.23 ERA in 88.2 innings of work, along with 68 strikeouts.

Earning Third Team All-Central Region honors were Webster's Taylor Stoulp, Spalding's Kyle Hudson and Westminster College's Tyler Branneky and Deion Hughes. Stoulp, a second baseman, has a .339 batting average with 59 hits, including 11 doubles, one triple and two home runs. He has also tallied a total of 43 RBI and 41 runs scored. Hudson, a starting pitcher, recorded 72 strikeouts and a 2.49 ERA in 72.1 innings pitched and also had a 7-3 record with seven complete games in 12 starts.

Branneky, a third baseman, hit .406 at the plate with 43 hits in 106 at-bats. He had seven doubles, two triples, five home runs, 27 RBI and 34 runs scored, along with a .504 on-base percentage. Hughes, a utility player, had a .342 batting average with 39 hits, including six doubles and two triples. He also recorded 26 RBI and 17 runs scored. In the field, Hughes had a .985 fielding percentage with 59 putouts, six assists and only one error in 66 total chances. On the mound he posted three saves, struckout 17 batters and had a 1.06 ERA in 17.0 innings of work.

The 2013 season marks the second year that D3Baseball.com has awarded All-Region honors. More than 700 players were nominated by their school's Sports Information Directors.
