Webster Baseball 6th in Final 2013 D3Baseball.com Poll
ST. LOUIS - The Webster University baseball team entered
the 2013 season ranked in the top 10 and ended
there as well as the Gorloks wound up sixth in
the D3baseball.com final 2013 national NCAA DIII
poll. The Gorloks also finished seventh in
the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball News national NCAA III
poll.
Webster was ranked 10th in the d3 baseball.com pre-season
poll and ninth in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball
pre-season poll. The Gorloks sixth
place national ranking is the highest ever
achieved by the baseball program and the highest
ranking achieved by any sport in the department's 29
year
history. Webster finished seventh and eighth in the
final D3baseball and ABCA 2012 polls.
The lofty ranking came with the team's second straight NCAA
III Championship (better known as NCAA World
Series) appearance and its second NCAA
Regional Title. Webster won the Moline (IL)
Regional, finishing with a 4-1 record, and wound
up fifth in the Series with a 1-2 record.
The Gorloks wound up playing 10 games vs. top-25 opponents
during the 2013 season, finishing with a 6-4
record in those games. Webster was 37-12
on the year, setting a new single season record
for wins for the second straight year.

The University of Southern Maine, who eliminated Webster from
the Series, lost the championship final in the
Series and wound up second in both polls.
