Gorloks Draw #1 Seed in Augustana (Ill.) Regional

ST. LOUIS - Fresh on the heels of their fourth consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament Championship, the Webster University baseball team learned that they will be the top seed in Augustana (Ill.) Regional of the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament. The Gorloks will face sixth-seeded Ripon College on Wednesday, May 15, at Noon (CDT).

The Augustana (Ill.) Regional also includes #2-Wartburg College, #3-Augustana College (Ill.), #4-Concordia University (Ill.) and #5-Adrian College. The regional tournament is double elimination format, with first round action beginning Wednesday and play continuing through Sunday, May 19.

Fifty-six teams qualifying for the NCAA Division III Tournament wll compete at eight regional sites, with the eight regional winners advancing to the Championships in Appleton, Wis., on May 24-28.

Webster will be seeking its second trip to Wisconsin and the Championships, after winning the Millington (Tenn.) Regional and advancing in 2012. The Gorloks, who were nationally ranked #13 in the latest D3baseball.com Top 25 poll and #12 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30, finished the SLIAC with a 20-1 record and currently stand at 32-9 overall.
