The meat of the lineup, including the two through four-hole hitters Matt West, Derek Ferch and Drew Beckman, led the SU offense in the first game combining for six of the 13 SU hits and five of the eight SU RBIs.

Starter Kyle Barbee (3-0) got the win going for three innings, giving up two runs on five hits and four strikeouts.

Eureka got on the board first scoring one in the first off an RBI groundout by Cody Litwiller and another run in the third off an RBI single up the middle also by Litwiller, giving Eureka the 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third.

A big third inning by the sticks of SU would give them their first lead of the game. A two RBI single by Matt West tied the game, 2-2. After a pop out by Ferch, Drew Beckman singled to center field, bringing in Matt West and giving SU the 3-2 lead. Next up would be Sam White, who would hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Beckman and giving SU the two run lead, 4-2.

SU would score two more the next inning. The first run came of an RBI sacrifice bunt by leadoff batter Kyle Whitlock, scoring Nathan Greenwell. The second came off an RBI single to left field by Derek Ferch, scoring Ryan Selent and extending the SU lead, 6-2.

The Golden Eagle Nine would bring in another run in the fifth, when Sam White scored off an RBI triple by Nathan Greenwell, ending the fifth with SU leading 7-2.

SU would score its final run in the sixth, when an RBI sacrifice fly by Derek Ferch to center field plated Kyle Whitlock and gave SU the 8-2 lead.

Eureka would make it interesting in the final inning of the seven inning game, bringing in four runs to only trail by two runs, 8-6. However, a costly running mistake on what would have a been a sacrifice fly allowed SU to get the final out of the game on an appeal call to third base, giving SU the 8-6 victory.

Javier Guerra was the highlight of the game, coming back from an injury to take the mound in his first collegiate start, Guerra would complete a seven inning no hit shut-out that included eleven strikeouts in what will certainly be a memorable performance for the red shirt freshman.

The no-hitter overshadowed the superb hitting performance of the SU offense, combining for 16 runs off 18 hits and 11 runs batted in.

SU would score five runs in the first, which included an RBI by Derek Ferch.

Ferch would get another RBI in the second along with JR Belt in three-run second for the Golden Eagle Nine, extending their lead, 8-0.
Matt West would bring in the only run in the third off an RBI sacrifice fly to left field that plated Ryan Selent and gave SU the 9-0 lead.

SU would go scoreless in the fourth, but plate five more runs in the fifth. Kyle Whitlock, Matt West, Derek Ferch, Ryan Mosby, and Kyle Barbee each had an RBI for the inning, all helping to extend the SU lead, 14-0.

Kyle Whitlock and Derek Ferch would get an RBI each in the two-run sixth inning for the Golden Eagles, giving them the 16-0 lead and ultimately the victory behind Javier Guerra's no hit performance.

The Golden Eagle Nine will take on Washington University of Missouri Tuesday, April 1 in an away game in St. Louis, MO at 4:00 p.m EST.
