Fleming Named to D3baseball.com Team of the Week
Webster baseball starting pitcher Josh Fleming picked up a second honor for his performance this past week, being named to the d3baseball.com national Team of the Week for April 27-May 3. It is the second straight week d3baseball.com honored a Webster player, with Jeff Kammer (SR, Chesterfield, MO/Lafayette HS) being named to the team at third base for April 20-26.
Fleming continued his stellar freshman campaign on the mound by throwing a complete game, nine inning shutout in a 3-0 win at Fontbonne University. Fleming scattered four hits and walked none, while striking out 12 Griffins. With the shutout, Fleming improved to 6-2 on the season and lowered his earned run average to 2.07 for his freshman campaign. He has 75 strikeouts in 65 1/3 innings on the year.
The win over Fontbonne helped the #22 nationally ranked Gorloks clinch the SLIAC West Division and the best overall record in the conference for a ninth straight year.
Fleming was named the Diamond Sports/SLIAC Pitcher of the Week for April 27-May 3 earlier this week. Fleming finished the regular season 5-0 in SLIAC play, with a 0.82 earned run average in the conference.
