Kammer Garners NCBWA National Player of the Week

Webster University's Jeff Kammer has one more piece of 'hardware' to add to his collection of honors for his performance the week of April 20-26.  Kammer (SR, Chesterfield, MO/Lafayette HS), a third baseman for the Gorlok baseball team, has been named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national Player of the Week.

Kammer earlier this week has been honored by the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as its 'Diamond Sports' Hitter of the Week, and d3baseball.com named him to its national Team of the Week at third base.

Kammer hit better than .700 and adorned a slugging percentage of over 1.200 as the Gorloks locked up a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament bid with three wins. He started the week with a 2-5 game against Greenville, driving in a pair of runs. He followed with a 4-4 performance against NCAA Division I Illinois State, plating three runs. Kammer then exploded in a double header against Eureka College, going 6-8 with six RBIs, two home runs, and a double.

On the week, Kammer was 12-17, batting .706, with 11 RBIs and six runs scored. In addition, he slugged 1.235 on the week and had a .722 on base percentage.

Kammer joins the NCBWA pitcher of the week, Josh Outsen of St. Joseph's College (NY), who pitched a perfect game.
