Spalding's Vire Named to D3Baseball.com Team of Week

After helping the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins over the weekend, Spalding University senior Korie Vire was named the second baseman on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's national weekly honor roll recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week.

Vire, who was also selected as the SLIAC Hitter of the Week, hit at a .611 clip (11-for-18), with a .632 on base percentage, while driving in six RBIs and scoring four runs. Vire also was a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen bases, and earned a save in the Golden Eagles 6-3 win over Wheaton (Ill.). Vire started the weekend going 2-for-4 with one run scored and two stolen bases in the Golden Eagles 6-3 win over Wheaton. He then capped off the weekend with a 3-for-5 performance in SU's 13-4 win over #19 ranked Baldwin Wallace, scoring two runs, while also driving in a pair of RBIs and stealing two bases.

With the wins, Spalding improves to 2-2 on the season. Vire and the Golden Eagles will be back in action at Derby City Field this weekend hosting #25 ranked Heidelberg. SU and Heidelberg will face off Friday at 6pm EST, and again Saturday at 5pm.
