Steinhart Tosses No-Hitter In MacMurray Win

BOX SCORE

MacMurray College junior pitcher Cory Steinhart tossed a no-hitter in the Highlanders 5-0 win over Robert Morris on Saturday. Steinhart was on early, striking out the side in the opening frame including back to back swinging strikeouts for the final two outs.

The Highlanders quickly spotted Steinhart three runs in the bottom of the first, and that would be all the Clifton, Illinois native would need on the day. Steinhart struck out the first batter of the second inning, extending his consecutive strikeouts to start the game to four. He then induced an easy fly to center field and a pop-up to second to end the frame.

Steinhart would work with a perfect game up until the seventh inning when the second batter of the inning drew a walk. With a 5-0 lead, Steinhart was able to bear down and struck out the next batter before ending the game on a groundout back to the mound. Steinhart's seven-inning no-hitter came with nine strikeouts, seven fly balls, and five ground outs.
