Keating Named National Pitcher of the Week

Spalding University's Jimi Keating was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 10-16.

The NCBWA Player of the Week awards are a national award given to one pitcher and one hitter based on outstanding performance.

Keating, a junior right-hander from Bardstown, Ky., led the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 victory of SLIAC rival Webster University. The SLIAC Pitcher of the Week worked nine scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while striking out 13 and walking only one batter, in a complete game effort.

Keating and the Golden Eagles will be back on the diamond Saturday and Sunday at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill. The SLIAC East Division series will play a doubleheader Saturday at 2 and 4:30 pm, and wrap up on Sunday with nine innings starting at 2 pm EST.
