Spalding's Keating Named D3baseball.com Preseason All-America
Spalding University pitcher Jimi Keating was named to the 2018 D3baseball.com Preseason All-American Team. This marks the first time a Golden Eagle has been named to the preseason All-American Team since Spalding joined the NCAA.
Keating heads into 2018 after a stellar 2017 season where the senior to-be-received ABCA First Team All-American, Third Team D3baseball.com All-American honors, and CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. The Bardstown, Ky. native finished the regular season leading NCAA Division III with 11 wins, as well as led the nation in strikeouts fanning 124 batters over 100 innings while holding a 1.62 earned runs average. The right-hander averaged 11.16 strikeouts per game and walked just 10 batters ranking third in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio. Keating also held opposing hitters to a .186 batting average and finished the season ranked third nationally in WHIP at 0.77.
