SLIAC Pair Named NYCBL All-Stars

Kyler Kent and Jonah Moore, two baseball players from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, have been named to the 2018 New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Stars. A total of 30 players were selected to participate in the All-Star Game Showcase, along with the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. The game took place in Syracuse, NY at the Onondaga Community College baseball complex on Monday, July 9, 2018.

Kent, an infielder from Webster University, was named the All-Star game Offensive MVP after going 2-for-2 with two RBI in helping his All-Start team to a 7-6 win. Kent, playing for the Hornell Dodgers, currently leads the NYCBL in hits and is third in runs batted in and has twice been named NYCBL Player of the Week this summer. This past year for the Gorloks he hit .435 during the regular season and finished the season with a .428 batting average. On the season, Kent recorded a single-season school record 83 hits and also scored 44 runs, hit 17 doubles and led the Gorloks in both home runs (6) and RBI (46) and struck just 15 times in 194 at-bats. In addition, Kent was 9-for-12 on the stolen bases and led Webster with 28 multi-hit games, including just the 17th 5-hit game in school history in late April against Iowa Wesleyan. The 83 base hits this season bettered the old single-season mark of 75 set by Tom Henke in 2012.

Moore, a pitcher from Greenville University, is playing his summer ball with the Genesee Rapids. Moore has started seven games this summer and leads the Rapids in innings pitched (46.1). He holds a 3-2 pitching record, with a 2.71 earned-run average, while ranking 2nd on the team with 27 strikeouts. This past year with Greenville Moore notched four wins on the mound while striking out 58 batters.
