Gorloks Ranked 15th in Latest Top 25 Poll

Webster University Baseball heads into its annual Spring Break trip to Florida ranked 15th in this week's NCBWA/D3Baseball.com Top 25 poll that was released on Tuesday.

The Gorloks, who is currently sporting a 4-1 overall record, earned 243 points in the poll and is 47 points behind No. 14 Keystone (290 points) and 16 points in front of No. 16 Cortland (227 points). 

In last week's first regular-season poll, the Gorloks were ranked 17th after being ranked 16th in the preseason poll from the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com. 

Webster is one two schools from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference mentioned in this week's second regular-season poll as Spalding (7-3) earned 37 points to be seventh among the 28 teams receiving votes this week.

Along with its No. 15 ranked in the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll, the Gorloks are also ranked 15th in the Preseason Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III poll that was released in January. The first regular season Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III poll will be released on Monday, March 11. 

Headlining this week's NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll is Wooster (0-0) as they received 599 points and 15 first-place votes. Rowan (1-0) is at No. 2 as they earned 557 points and seven first-place votes, while Christopher Newport (8-0) jumps from No. 7 to No. 3 this week as they earned 530 points and one first-place vote. The Top 5 is rounded out by Trinity (8-3) at No. 4 and Swarthmore (0-0) at No. 5. Trinity received a first-place vote.

Randolph-Macon (1-1) falls to No. 6 and is followed at No. 7 by UMass-Boston (0-0), who meets Webster on Wednesday, March 13 at 4:30 p.m. ET at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Fla., and Southern Maine (0-0) is eighth. Texas Lutheran (7-4) and Huntingdon (12-0) round out the Top 10. UMass-Boston earned the final first-place vote.

Wisconsin-Whitewater (1-2) begins the next 10 at No. 11 and is followed by Chapman (9-3) at No. 12 and Concordia-Chicago (2-1) at No. 13. Concordia-Chicago and the Gorloks will meet each other in Saint Leo, Fla., on Thursday, March 14 at 11 a.m. ET. Keystone, Webster, and Cortland are followed in the poll at No. 17 by Salisbury (5-2-1) and Cal Lutheran (7-2) at No. 18. Piedmont (11-3) is 19th and Johns Hopkins (5-1) completes the Top 20 at No. 20.

The final five of this week's second regular-season poll begins with Misericordia (4-3) at No. 21, while Babson (1-2) is at No. 22 and Oswego State (1-2) is 23rd. Concordia (Texas) (11-1) and Kean (7-1) are 24th and 25th respectively. 

Webster will open up play on its Spring Break Florida trip on Friday, March 8 as they face Wheaton (Mass.) in a 6 p.m. ET game at the Chain of Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Fla. Wheaton (Mass.) received four votes in this week's NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll.
