Principia's Todd Zimmerman Breaks School Career Scoring Record

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With just two games left in his collegiate career, Principia's Todd Zimmerman broke the all-time scoring record since the institution has kept accurate statistics. Unfortunately the milestone came on the road in a 92-78 loss to one of the conference's top teams, Spalding University. Zimmerman surpassed former record holder, Sam Gilman, when he scored his 1530th career point early in the second half. Zimmerman finished the game with 22 points giving him 1537 career points.

Zimmerman, who also holds Prin's career mark for assists, dished out seven assists. He leads the league this year in scoring and assists.

The Panthers struggled in the first half, scoring only 27 points to Spalding's 40. Spalding is pretty much unstoppable in their own gym. They have only one SLIAC loss on their home court this year and it was to Webster University, the other top team in the conference. Last year Principia lost 83-45 at Spalding.

Despite the poor first half, Prin crept back to within nine points with just under four minutes remaining but played catch up ball the rest of the way.

With the loss Prin drops to 5-10 and remains in 6th place in the conference, four positions higher than predicted in a pre-season coaches' poll.

The Panthers also got double-digit scoring from freshman Naveed Hosseinmardi and Colin Angle, who had 15 apiece. Stanley Beal added 11 points. Hosseinmardi was 6-6 from the floor and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Prin is ending the season with their third best finish since joining the conference 21 years ago.
