Webster's Whittingham Voted to NABC Midwest All-District Second Team
ST. LOUIS - Stefan Whittingham (Ft. Lauderdale HS), a sophomore forward who had a breakout season in 2011-12 for the Webster University men's basketball team, continues to garner post-season awards as he was voted to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2012 Midwest All-District Team. NABC Division III All-District teams, recognizing the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes in the division, are selected by member coaches of the NABC. Whittingham was named to the Division III Midwest All-District Second Team.
Whittingham, a First-Team All-Conference selection for the
Gorloks, was voted the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference 2012 Player of the Year after averaging 15.5 points and
8.2 rebounds per game. Both totals were the third highest in the
SLIAC for the season. He was also named SLIAC Player of the Week on
three different occasions in 2011-12 as well.
Whittingham had eight 'double double' games for the season, hitting
double figures in both points and rebounds, and scored 402 points
for the year after scoring just 57 his freshmen campaign.
Webster won the SLIAC title in 2011-12, with a 13-3 record. It was the Gorloks second straight SLIAC title, and fifth in the past eight seasons.
