Eureka's Mark Lessen Named to D3Hoops.com Team of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Less than 12 hours after earning his third consecutive SLIAC Player of the Week award, Eureka College senior center Mark Lessen has been selected to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week, according to an announcement Tuesday. The Team of the Week is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll and recognizes the top national performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Lessen has now earned the national recognition from D3Hoops.com twice in his career. He last was recognized by the website on Jan. 24, 2012, and joins former teammate Kameron Bell (2008-10) as Red Devils to receive the national honor. D3Hoops.com was founded by executive editor and former Division III sports information director Pat Coleman. Lessen was joined on the Team of the Week by Tyler Peters (Wheaton), John Ivy (Brockport State), Ryan Sheehan (Nichols) and Dan Kornbaum (Augsburg).

Lessen averaged 30.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in two league games last week. His 31-point showing last Wednesday at Blackburn gave him 1,000 points for his collegiate career and sent the Red Devils to their eighth consecutive victory. He went on to tally 30 points and a season-high 15 rebounds Saturday at Webster for his fifth double-double of the season.

He shot 71 percent (25-for-35) from the field for the week and added six blocked shots. Monday's announcement marked his fifth career SLIAC Player of the Week award.

Lessen and the Red Devils will host Greenville Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Reagan Center.
