MacMurray's Johnson Earns All-American Honors

MacMurray College senior Deavis Johnson was named Men's Basketball NCAA Division III honorable mention All-American by DIII News. Earning honorable mention All-American honors was just the latest in a long list of awards won by Johnson this year.

Johnson, from East St. Louis, Ill., averaged 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this season, one of just two SLIAC players to average a double-double. He finished with 12 double-doubles this season and recorded 21 rebounds in a January 6 game against Greenville, the second most in conference history. Johnson shot 53.5 percent from the floor and ranked second in the league in blocked shots and eighth in assists.

Johnson was named the 2015-16 SLIAC Player of the Year and garnered First Team All-Conference, SLIAC All-Defensive Team, NABC First Team All-District, and D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team honors.

Johnson is the 17th player in conference history to earn All-American honors and joins former teammate Clayton Whitlock as the last two SLIAC players to earn DIII News All-American honors. Whitlock was also named honorable mention in 2014-15. For a full list of DIII News All-Americans click HERE
