Eureka's Wilde Reaches 100 Career Wins

Eureka College head men's basketball coach Chip Wilde earned his 100th career victory with the Red Devils in an 83-72 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Spalding Golden Eagles, Wednesday night inside the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center.

His 100 career win puts him in an elite club in program history and as only Eureka College Hall of Famers Dave Darnall (383), Leo "Doc" Traister (168) and Ralph McKinzie (121) have tallied more victories.

The victory pushed the Red Devils to 8-10 overall and 6-5 in league play. Spalding falls to 7-11 overall and 5-6 in conference.

Freshman guard Shea Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Lewis]) paced the Red Devils blistering shooting with a game-high 21 points in 30 minutes of action off the bench. Senior guards Sam Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Illinois Central]) and Tommy Goulding (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora [Aurora]) added 18 points each.

Junior Parker Gibson (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac [St. John's NW Military Academy]) came in clutch down the stretch, hitting a pair of three-point field goals over the final 4-minutes, 32-seconds of action to halt Spalding's comeback attempt. Gibson finished the night with 17 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 from long range.

The Golden Eagles were led by James Turner who scored 19 points on the night. Spalding's Victory Crosby and Rylan Rowe each added 12 points apiece for the visitors.

Eureka used the deep ball to their advantage in the contest, connecting on 10-of-16 (.625) from beyond the arc. Overall the Red Devils shot 53.4 percent from the floor (31-of-58) and only turned the ball over four times.

What's Next?
Eureka continues conference play inside the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center on Saturday against the Webster Gorloks. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. The contest has been dubbed the SLIAC Game of the Week.
