Spalding's Goeing Notches 1,000th Career Point

A nine-point halftime lead vanished as Centre outscored the Golden Eagles by 12 in the second half and by 17 in the final 15:54 to win 46-43 on Tuesday night at Derek Smith Gymnasium. Brandon Goeing scored 12 points and eclipsed the 1,000-point barrier for his Spalding career. He now has 1,006 points in his career.

The first half was owned by the Golden Eagles as they forced seven Colonel turnovers and hit three threes' to take a 25-16 lead into the halftime break. Nick Trisko lead the Golden Eagles in the first 20 minutes with six points on 3-of-6 shooting. He would finish with just eight points for the game.

The second half was a completely different game as the Colonels got into the bonus with just under 13 minutes to play. They would go on to hit 11-of-16 free throws in the second 20 minutes and climb their way back into the game.

Spalding's nine-point lead grew to 16 with 15:54 but Spalding would score just seven points the rest of the way while Centre scored 23. After a Domonique Ellis made floater in the lane to give Spalding a 43-41 win with 5:31 to play, the Golden Eagles would go scoreless to the final buzzer.

The Golden Eagles shot 29 percent from the field and hit 6-of-28 three's, while holding the Colonels to 1-of-17 from behind the three-point line. The Colonels would shoot 15-of-24 from the free throw line, while the Golden Eagles would hit just 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Saturday in Evansville against Division II Southern Indiana at 1:00 p.m. EST.
