Principia and Webster Honored by NABC For Academic Success

The Principia College and Webster University men's basketball teams were honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for their success in the classroom during the 2015-16 season. Both Principia and Webster received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards in addition a total of nine players from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference were named to the NABC Honors Court.

Principia and Webster were just two of 122 schools across NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II levels to receive the 2015-16 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. In order to receive the award teams must hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or above for the entire season and count the grade-point average of all student-athletes who played during the season.

In addition to receiving recognition as a team several individual student-athletes from both Principia and Webster as well as Eureka College were honored by the NABC. From Principia College Steven Hammond, Joseph Sander, and Connor Savoye were named to the NABC Honors Court while Adam Etter, Jonathan Odjo, Kevin Smith, Rabasa Turner, and Taylor Walton from Webster University were also named to the Honors Court. Eureka College was represented by Michael Sain.

In order to be named to the Honors Court a player must be a junior or senior, hold a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, spent one year at their current institution, and play at a NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

Congratulations to both Principia College and Webster University and the eight individual student-athletes for their continued hard work on the court and in the classroom.
