Blue Jays Season Comes To End

The Westminster men's basketball season comes to a close in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with a loss to the number one team in the nation, Augustana College. The 105-52 loss ends the season with a 12-16 record while Augustana extends their record to 27-1.

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 4-0 lead and went 7-for-7 from the field to start the game. They held a 7-2 lead with five points from sophomore Tanner Cochran, but Augustana scored five to tie the game. Sophomore Romo Tabb made his second basket of the game to take back the lead, but an 8-0 Augustana run gave them their first lead of the game. The Augustana Vickings did not look back and jumped out to a 31-14 lead with 9:22 left in the first half. At halftime Augustana possessed a 59-25 lead, and they went on to win the game 105-52.

Freshman Dominick Erby led the Blue Jays with nine points with five coming from the foul line. Cochran, Tabb and sophomore Jimmy Villalobos each added seven points. 

No. 1 Augustana advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and will face Hope on Saturday, March 5, at 7:00 pm.
