The Greenville College men's basketball team obliterated the school record for points in a game as they picked up a 178-125 victory over Lincoln Christian on Tuesday and in the process tied the NCAA Division III record for three-point field goals made in a game with 37. In addition the two teams combined to set a new NCAA Division III record for combined three-point field goals made with 48.

Panther Shane Smith continued his offensive onslaught with a 36 point evening, marking his third consecutive game with at least 23 points. A total of four Panthers scored over 20 points.  Michael Hohm was the second leading scorer with 26 points. Kenny Greene added 24 points, and DeAndre Brown chipped in 23 points.

The Panthers knocked down 37 three-pointers in the game tying a NCAA record originally set by Redlands against La Sierra in 2003. Lincoln Christian connected on 11 three-pointers in the game as well, giving the two teams a combined 48 made three-pointers and breaking the previous D3 mark set in a game between Redlands and Whittier in 2004.

Greenville won the rebounding battle 47-37 with Elmo Smith grabbing a team high eight rebounds.  Guards Johari Dix and Daniel Saeli lifted Greenville with 10 and nine assists, respectively.

Greenville took a 75-69 lead into halftime and posted 103 points in the second period.

The Panthers (4-0) travel to Grinnell for a match up on Saturday, and they return home for a game on Monday against Transylvania.
