Hornets Defeat Tigers In Opening Round of USCAA
Dennis Miles of Concordia College- Alabama led the Hornets to a 81-71 victory over Iowa Wesleyan University. Miles scored 24 total points, going 12-13 from the floor, recording 14 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Steven Soukup (SR/Danville, IA) led the Tigers efforts recording 19 total points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Michael Soukup (SR/Danvillle, IA) also added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Brock Butler (JR/Palmyra, MO) added 15 points, while Mitch Drey (SR/Gretna, NE) recorded 9 points and Elijah Johnson (JR/Rancho Cucamonga, CA) had 8 points.
Additional Hornets contributors were Deangelo Anthony, Tavin Cumming, and Christian Bryant. Anthony had 17 total points with 3 steals and 3 assists, while Cumming had 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Bryant added 13 points 10 assists and 4 steals.
Tigers finish the year with an overall record of 17-9, with Steven Soukup being named a USCAA 1st Team All-American. Jordan Nutt (JR/Palmyra, MO), Steven Soukup, Brock Butler, Michael Soukup, and Josh Brase (JR/Riverside, IA) all earned USCAA National All-Academic Honors.
