2017-18 Men's Basketball Players of the Week

   

FEBRUARY 19, 2018
Johari Dix, Greenville University

Johari Dix led the Panthers to a SLIAC regular season title by winning two games last week, extending the teams current winning streak to five. Dix, a junior guard, averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 assists, and 5.0 steals over the two games while shooting 70-percent from the field. He put up 32 points, on 11-of-12 shooting, in a win over Spalding; adding seven assists and five steals. Dix followed with 14 points, in just 20 minutes, in a win over Webster; adding nine assists and five steals. 

   

FEBRUARY 12, 2018
Davian Joseph, Webster University

Davian Joseph, a senior from Philadelphia, Pa., edged out all other nominees to pick up the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week award. Joseph averaged 11.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game while helping the Gorloks pick up two key conference wins as they continue their chase for the postseason. Joseph finished with 10 points, going 4-of-5 from the floor, with 9 rebounds and 5 assists in a win over Spalding. He followed with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high 6 blocked shots in a win over MacMurray. On the week he shot 53-percent from the field while totaling eight blocked shots.

   

FEBRUARY 5, 2018
Brock Butler, Iowa Wesleyan University

This week's SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week is Iowa Wesleyan's Brock Butler. Butler, a senior guard, averaged 36.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game last week while achieving impressive shooting percentages. Butler poured in a career-high 46 points in an overtime game against Blackburn, shooting 14-of-25 from the field while knocking down five three's and going 13-of-14 from the line. He followed with 27 points and 9 rebounds in a win over Webster. On the week he shot 53-percent from the field, 44-percent from three-point range, and 88-percent from the free-throw line.

   

JANUARY 29, 2018
Shea Feehan, Eureka College

Feehan takes his second straight weekly award after averaging 35.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week during two conference games. Feehan, a junior guard, netted 30 points against MacMurray. He closed out the week with his fifth 40 point game this season, a 41 point effort in a win over Blackburn. Feehan was 15-of-21 from the field and knocked down 6-of-8 three-point attempts while adding seven rebounds and three steals in the game. On the week he shot 64-percent from the field with 8 three-pointers and just two turnovers.

   

JANUARY 22, 2018
Shea Feehan, Eureka College

Feehan, a junior from Peoria, Ill., claims the weekly award after putting up back to back 40-point games last week. He started the week with 44 points, on 13-of-19 shooting, against Fontbonne while adding five rebounds. Feehan followed with 47 points against Greenville, just two shy of his career high and the fourth highest single-game total in SLIAC history. Feehan shot 64-percent from the floor on the week and knocked down 9-of-20 three-point attempts while averaging 45.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. 

   

JANUARY 15, 2018
TreVaughn Goodman, Principia College

Goodman, a sophomore from Plantation, Florida, highlighted his week with a triple-double while pouring in the third most points in conference history. Goodman netted 43 points, on 16-of-18 shooting, against Greenville while also grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing 14 assists. He also picked up three steals and two blocked shots in the game. Goodman followed with 23 points and five assists while leading Principia to a win over Fontbonne. On the week Goodman averaged 33.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 9.5 assists while shooting 80-percent from the field. 

   

JANUARY 8, 2018
Micah Paulson, Principia College

Paulson, a junior guard, helped the Panthers climb back into the playoff race with two key conference wins last week. While playing every minute of both games Paulson had team-high points in both wins. Against Blackburn, he went for 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding four assists in an 80-66 win. He followed with 34 points in a 94-88 win over Eureka, adding six assists and two steals while going 13-of-14 from the free-throw line. Paulson averaged 29.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game last week as the Panthers moved into a tie for second place in the SLIAC standings.

   

JANUARY 2, 2018
Brent Long, MacMurray College

After winning the final SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week award in 2017, Brent Long opens up 2018 by duplicating the weekly honor. Long, a senior forward averaged a double-double over three games; 22.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game while helping the Highlanders to a pair of wins. Long put up a season-high 32 points in a win over Dallas, while going 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. He closed out the year with 20 points against Sewanee while grabbing a season-high 17 rebounds and tying his career high with six assists. On the week Long shot 49-percent from the field and recorded 14 assists. Long is currently in 6th place on the MacMurray all-time scoring list with 1,330 points.

   

DECEMBER 18, 2017
Brent Long, MacMurray College

Long, a senior from Franklin, Illinois, becomes the first MacMurray College player to win SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week since the 2015-16 season. Long tallied a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds while helping the Highlanders to their first conference win of the season; a 64-60 victory over Spalding. Long went 9-of-13 from the field and recorded a double-double in the first half of the game alone, with 15 points and 10 rebounds in helping MacMurray hold an 11 point lead at halftime. But as Spalding closed in late, the Highlanders turned to Long who had two of his team's final four baskets down the stretch to secure the win. 

   

DECEMBER 11, 2017
Brock Butler, Iowa Wesleyan University

Butler, a senior guard, scored a career-high 39 points against Greenville in a conference home game. Butler tallied 27 of his 39 points in the first-half, scoring over half of his team's first-half points. Butler finished the game 16-of-28 shooting including a pair of three-pointers and finished with the most points by a player against Greenville this season. He also grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest and dished out five assists while playing the entire 40 minutes of action.

   

DECEMBER 4, 2017
Shea Feehan, Eureka College

Feehan garners his third conference weekly award this season after averaging 37.0 points in two conference wins last week for the Red Devils. Feehan tallied 34 points on 13-of-18 shooting in a win over Greenville and followed with 40 points in a win over MacMurray, knocking down seven three-pointers. On the week Feehan shot 58.5-percent from the floor while hitting 47-percent of his three-point attempts. Feehan also knocked down 18-of-19 free-throws and averaged 2.5 assists per game.

   

NOVEMBER 27, 2017 
Shea Feehan, Eureka College

Shea Feehan collects his second straight SLIAC Player of the Week award after leading the Red Devils to three wins last week. Feehan, a junior guard from Peoria, Ill., averaged 37.7 points per game during the wins. He had a high of 49 points, setting a new program single-game scoring record and the third most points in SLIAC history. Earlier in the week Feehan also joined the 1,000 point club for his Red Devil career. On the week he shot 53-percent from the floor while hitting 12 three-pointers and going 31-for-34 at the free-throw line. In addition, Feehan averaged 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. 

   

NOVEMBER 20, 2017 
Shea Feehan, Eureka College

Shea Feehan has picked up this season where he left off last spring. After leading the conference in scoring last year Feehan put up back to back 20 point games in the opening week. Feehan had a high of 34 points in a win over Robert Morris-Springfield, knocking down six three-pointers in the contest. He followed with 20 points against Central Michigan, for a weekly average of 27.0 points per game. Feehan also knocked down all 12 of his free-throw attempts last week.
