Johari Dix Highlights Record Breaking Day for Panthers
Johari Dix headlines a record-breaking day for the Greenville University Panthers men's basketball team. Two days after setting a new conference record for most points in a game the Panthers broke that mark again while also NCAA Division III records for most combined points in a game, combined rebounds, combined assists, field goals attempts by one team, and three-point field goal attempts by one team.
All the records were broken with Johari Dix running the point for the Panthers and Dix did not miss out on a record of his own; breaking the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record for career assists. Dix breaks the previous mark of 449 held by Greg Martin of Westminster College which was set in the early years of the conference from 1990-93. Dix now has 462 career assists. He has reached the century mark in assists in each of the last three seasons and is just 16 away from the single-season record of 124 set by MacMurray College's Mike Cameron last year.
Greenville led 97-70 at halftime and upped their output in the second half, finishing with 103 points. The 103 points are the second most for points in a half in an NCAA Division III game, one off the record while their total of 200 points was also one point away from another Division III mark. Greenville finished 73-of-154 from the field, knocking down 33-of-91 three-point attempts. They were led by Eric Williams' 38 points while Marvin Bateman added 37 points including 11 three-pointers.
