2019-20 Men's Basketball Players of the Week

Dakota Bennington, Eureka College

Bennington, a senior from Peoria, Illinois, closes out his collegiate career with another weekly award. The guard averaged 27.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games for the Red Devils last week. He put up 44 points in the season finale against Greenville, going 19-of-26 from the field while adding 8 rebounds and 2 steals. On the week Bennington shot 56-percent from the field.

Dakota Bennington, Eureka College

Bennington helped the Red Devils to a pair of SLIAC wins last week; averaging 26.5 points per game while shooting 58-percent from the field. The senior guard from Peoria, Illinois put up 33 points in a win over Fontbonne and followed with 20 points on the road against Spalding. He was 18-of-31 from the field on the week, knocking down four three's and going 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. On the week Bennington averaged 26.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks in the two games.

Drew Burwinkel, MacMurray College

Burwinkel put his name in the MacMurray record books last week, becoming just the second Highlander to ever record a triple-double. He did so with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists against Greenville. Burwinkel was also key in his team's come from behind win over Eureka, scoring 13 of his 17 points in the second half. He added 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the game, shooting 6-of-8 from the field. On the week Burwinkel averaged 15.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.0 assists while shooting 60-percent from the field.

Jordan Clay, Webster University

Clay, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in two conference wins last week for the Gorloks. Clay scored a career-high 26 points against Greenville, adding 10 rebounds and 7 assists in the game. He followed that with 17 points and 7 rebounds against MacMurray. On the week Clay shot 71-percent from the field, going 20-of-28 and added three steals.

Logan Dorethy, MacMurray College

Dorthey picks up his second award this season after a week in which he averaged 24.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games. The Highlander sophomore also shot 68-percent from the field on the week and added eight assists and two blocked shots. He recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in a 115-104 win over Westminster. Dorethy closed out his week with 27 points, on 11-of-16 shooting, with 15 rebounds against Fontbonne.

Jordan Dehm, Eureka College

Dehm captures SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors after averaging 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in two games for the Red Devils last week. The senior forward from Metamora, Illinois shot 49-percent from the floor in the two games and added two blocked shots while going 15-of-19 from the free-throw line. Dehm's best outing was a 31 point, 8 rebound, 6 assist effort in a win over Webster.

Anthony Jones, Fontbonne University

Jones, a sophomore from Wentzville, Mo., picks up weekly honors after leading the Griffins to a pair of conference wins last week. Jones averaged 30.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in the two wins, adding four steals. He started the week with 18 points and 8 rebounds in a come from behind road-win over Spalding. He scored 11 of his points in the second half, sparking the Griffins, who were down 20 at halftime, to the win. He followed that outing with a career-high 42 points in a 114-110 overtime win over Eureka. Jones finished 15-of-22 from the field, adding 6 rebounds and 1 steal in the game. He hit a half-court shot at the buzzer to force the game into overtime.

Marcus Montgomery - Spalding University

Montgomery started 2020 with a record-setting performance for Spalding, scoring 55 points in the Golden Eagles home contest against Greenville. Montgomery, a junior guard from Louisville, Ky., set a new SLIAC record for points in a conference game, surpassing the previous mark of 53. Montgomery tallied his 55 points on 23-of-33 shooting, knocking down five three's and going 4-of-6 from the free-throw line. During three games over the break, he averaged 24.0 points per game, connecting on 7 three-pointers and adding five assists and two steals.

Noah Coddington, Fontbonne University

Coddington recorded a double-double in the Griffins final game before the New Year. The sophomore from Glen Carbon, Illinois put up 16 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. He finished 7-of-13 from the field, adding one three-pointer. Coddington also chipped in one assist and two blocked shots. The game marked his first double-double of the season.

Ethan Thompson, Westminster College

Thompson paced the Blue Jays to a 96-84 road win over Eureka last weekend, putting up 35 points in being named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Thompson netted his game-high 35 points on 12-of-18 shooting; connecting on 10 three-pointers. His 10 three-point field goals tied a program record. Thompson also added 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in the game. The sophomore from Columbia, Mo. is currently averaging 15.8 points per game this season and has reached 30 points in two of his last three games.

Dakota Bennington picks up his second straight weekly award after helping the Red Devils to a pair of wins in the conference opening week. Bennington, a senior from Peoria, Ill., averaged 27 points in the two wins including a high of 31 points in a 112-93 win over Principia. Bennington averaged 27.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game on the week. He shot 60-percent from the field, going 22-of-37 while knocking down 4 three-pointers.

Dakota Bennington, Eureka College

Bennington led the Red Devils to a 93-80 win over Dominican last week, scoring a game-high 26 points. The senior from Peoria, Illinois finished the game by going 6-of-12 from the field and a perfect 14-of-14 from the free-throw line. He added 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals in the game. He currently leads the SLIAC in scoring (25.0 ppg) and averages 6.2 rebounds per game.

TreVaughn Goodman, Principia College

Goodman picks up his second straight weekly award after leading the Panthers to an 87-81 win over Lincoln Christian. Goodman put up 34 points on 14-of-20 shooting including 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Goodman added 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the game. He is currently averaging 24.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season.

TreVaughn Goodman, Principia College

Goodman, a senior from Lauderhill, Fla., put together a three-game effort last week in which he averaged 22.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He had a high of 26 points against Knox and followed with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a game against a D3 Final Four participant from last year Wheaton. He closed out the week with 19 points and 11 rebounds against Franklin. On the week he shot 61-percent from the field and added four steals.

Logan Dorethy, MacMurray College

Dorethy opens the 2019-20 season as the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The sophomore center led MacMurray to an 88-87 win over Central Christian in the Highlanders season-opening game. Dorethy put up 18 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the field while grabbing 16 rebounds. He also added three assists and one steal in the win.
