2012 SLIAC Men's Golf Championship Preview

ST. LOUIS - The 2012 SLIAC Men's Golf Championship is set for Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24, at the Forest Park Golf Club in St. Louis.

Seven teams will compete for the SLIAC Men's Golf title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. Those teams include Blackburn College, Eureka College, Fontbonne University, MacMurray College, Spalding University, Webster University and Westminster College (Mo.)

Webster will look to defend their title from last season, while also trying to claim their fifth championship overall. The Gorloks have claimed all three of the SLIAC Golfer of the Week awards this season, including two by freshman Tanner Rabb and one by fresman Matt Vanderbeek. Webster will also have Steven Kinsman and Kyler Scott in their lineup, both of whom placed in the top 10 in the 2011 SLIAC Championships and earned All-SLIAC honors.

Other players to watch include Spalding University's Keith Thompson and Blackburn College's Trent Groves, both who were All-Conference last season. Thompson was also the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2010. Groves was also All-SLIAC in 2010 when his squad claimed their second Men's Golf Championship.
