Thorman Finishes Tied for 45th at NCAA Championships

Webster's Tyler Thorman finished tied for 45th at the NCAA III Golf Championships with a four-round score of 306.  Thorman (SO, Macomb, IL/Macomb HS), shot third and fourth round scores of 83 and 79 to wind up eighteen over par for the Championship, at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC, on May 15-16..

Thorman shot first and second round scores of 71 and 74, sitting at par with a 144 and making the cut of the top six scores for individuals who were not members of 15 teams who made the cut in the field of 41.

Thorman was tied for 12th place in the field of 210 golfers after the first two rounds.  Eighty-one golfers made up the field for the final two rounds.  Thorman was the first Webster golfer to make the cut for the finals in the four years the team has participated.  

In the third round, Thorman overcame five bogeys, including three double-bogeys, on the front nine.  After finishing at 45 for the front nine, Thorman had a 38 on the back nine, including a  birdie, to finish at 83.  Thorman did much better on the front nine in the fourth round, cutting eight strokes off the previous day's 45 to finish at 37.  He had a 42 on the back nine to finish at 79.

Thorman's four rounds can be viewed HERE.  His NCAA Championship feat comes on the heels of finishing second in the 2014 SLIAC Championship, helping the Gorloks to victory.
