Webster Golf Set For NCAA's
The Webster University golf
team opens play in the NCAA III Men's Golf Championship on May 13,
in Greensboro, NC. The championships will be held May 13-16, at Grandover
Resort, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The championships will be
hosted by Guilford and the Greensboro Sports Commission. The
Gorloks are one of 41 teams competing for the 2014 crown, receiving
an automatic bid after winning the 2014 SLIAC Championship on April
23.
The Gorloks tee off bright and early, being matched up with players
from two of the top ranked teams in the country. Webster will
play with members of the #1 ranked University of the Redlands (CA)
and the host school, #4 ranked Guilford College.

A total of 210 participants will compete at the 2014 championships.
Thirty-one conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for
the championships. Three teams were selected from Pool B, which
consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are
members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for
automatic qualification. The final seven berths were reserved for
Pool C, institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that
were not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B
teams.
Five individuals are selected from the remaining players who have
not qualified with a team to complete the field.
After the first two rounds on May 13-14, team and individual cuts are made,
with the survivors playing in third and fourth rounds on May 15-16.
Webster participated in the Championships in 2008 (28th), 2011
(t-27th), and 2012 (25th).
