2017-18 Golf Player of the Week

Will Hocker, Webster University

Webster University's Will Hocker takes his second St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week in as many weeks. Hocker, a freshman from Grapevine, Texas, was in a field of 114 golfers at the Augustana Invitational last week. 

He finished tied for 9th among competitors, completing his round with a score of 72 on the par 70 course. With his top ten finish, he helped the Gorloks take 3rd place in the team scores at the event. The event, which was originally scheduled for 36 holes, was cut down to one round because of weather.

Webster University golfer Will Hocker has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golf Player of the Week for April 11, 2018. Hocker, a freshman from Grapevine, Texas, helped lead the Gorloks to a 6th place team finish at the NCAA Division III Match Play Invitational. Hocker won all four of his matches in dominating fashion. Hocker closed out all four of his opponents by the 15th hole of competition including an 8&7 win against Transylvania; needing just 11 holes to wrap up the victory. He played just 56 of a possible 72 holes during the four rounds.

Will Hocker, Webster University

Hocker, a sophomore from Grapevine, Texas, is the SLIAC Men's Golf Player of the Week for October 18. Hocker took 2nd place at the Alamo City Classic, which was held at the Quarry Golf Club. He finished the two-round event just one over par, three strokes behind the leader. Hocker tied for the lowest score in the opening round with a 73 and followed with a 70 in the second round. This marks the second time this fall that Hocker has claimed the conference weekly award.

Garrett Nielsen, Spalding University

Nielsen, a junior from Chicago, Ill., is the SLIAC Men's Golf Player of the Week for Oct. 4. Nielsen took 4th place at the Hopkins Golf Invitational, shooting a two-round score of 144. He was consistent all weekend, as he carded an even-par 72 in both rounds of the event. This marks the second straight event that Nielsen has finished in the top five.

Will Hocker, Webster University

Hocker, a sophomore from Grapevine, Texas, captured a first-place finish at the Rhodes Collegiate Invitational this past week to earn SLIAC Men's Golf Player of the Week honors. Hocker set multiple school records during the tournament, including lowest round and best three-round score. Hocker finished the tournament with a three-round score of 206, including a low round of 66 in the second round. Hocker bested 99 other golfers in the tournament to take home the title.
