Eight Men's Soccer Players Named All-Central Region

ST. LOUIS - Eight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) men's soccer players have been named to the 2009 NSCAA All-Central Region team. Principia College's Samuel Thomas, Yaw Danso, Ricky Seaman and Wes Fleming, Greenville College's Matt Reeb and Daniel Taylor, Spalding University's Justin Robbins and Fontbonne University's Mike Utley all received the honor.

Thomas, a sophomore goalkeeper from Chesterfield, Mo., was a First Team All-Central Region selection. He earned First Team All-SLIAC honors this season and led the conference in Shutouts (6) and Shutouts per Game (0.35). Thomas helped lead the Panthers to a 13-3-1 overall record and recorded 60 saves total.

Danso, a senior midfielder from Accra, Ghana, was named First Team All-Central Region. A First Team All-SLIAC honoree and the SLIAC Player of the Year, he led the conference in Assists per Game (0.65) and tied for first in the conference in total Assists (11). He finished the season with 12 goals and 11 assists for a total of 35 points in 17 games played.

Reeb, a senior forward from Belleville, Ill, was also First Team All-Central Region. He earned First Team All-SLIAC after recording 15 goals, 11 assists and 41 points this season. Reeb tied for second in the conference in Goals (15) and tied for first in Assists (11).

Robbins, a senior defender from Louisville, Ky., was a Second Team All-Central Region selection. He played in 14 games this season and had one goal and three assists for a total of five points. Robbins also helped the Golden Eagles to an 11-6 overall record.

Seaman, a senior forward from Winter Park, Fla., was also a Second Team All-Central Region honoree. He was named First Team All-SLIAC this season and led the SLIAC with four game-winning goals. He finished the season with 10 goals and four assists for a total of 24 points.

Fleming, a senior defender from Irvine, Calif., was a Third Team All-Central Region selection. He earned First Team All-SLIAC honors this year after helping the Panthers to a 13-3-1 overall record. He also helped the Principia defense post six shutouts, while also recording three goals and one assist for a total of seven points.

Taylor, a sophomore midfielder from Villa Ridge, Mo., was also a Third Team All-Central Region selection. He was named First Team All-SLIAC in 2009 and recorded eight goals and 10 assists for a total of 26 points.

Utley, a senior midfielder from Clayton, Mo., was named Third Team All-Central Region. He also was a First Team All-SLIAC honoree and was second on the Griffins squad with eight points and two assists for a total of 18 points in 18 games played.
