SLIAC Announces 2010 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Award Winners

St. Louis, Mo. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the 2010 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and award winners.

Principia College's Samuel Thomas and Webster University's Clint Carder shared Player of the Year honors, while Fontbonne University's Jimmy Timmerberg was named Newcomer of the Year.

Thomas, a junior goalkeeper, finished the season with a 0.48 goals-against average, allowing only four goals and recording 35 saves in 755:23 minutes in conference play. Carder, a sophomore forward, led the SLIAC in points (16), points per game (2.00) and tied for the lead in goals (7) and goals per game (0.88). Timmerberg, a freshman defender, helped lead his team to an unbeaten season in conference play. He was part of a Griffins defense that allowed only five goals in the SLIAC and recorded three shutouts.

Greenville College head coach Brian McMahon was selected as Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year, after leading his squad to their second straight regular season Conference Championship. The Panthers were unbeaten in the SLIAC this season with a record of 7-0-1.

Spalding University was recognized with the Sportsmanship Award.
