MacMurray Names Shane Taylor Head Men's & Women's Soccer Coach

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Shane Taylor, of Winchester, enters his first year as the men's and women's head soccer coach at MacMurray College.

Taylor comes to MacMurray from Iowa Wesleyan College, in Pleasant, IA, where he has spent the past year. Prior to his time at Iowa Wesleyan, Taylor spent five years at Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL.

During his tenure at Illinois College, Taylor was the men's soccer coach for five years and the women's coach for two years.

"It is with great esteem and optimism that I accept the head men's and women's soccer coaching position at MacMurray College," Taylor said at his introductions as a Mac coach. "This is an excellent coaching opportunity that Vice President David Fitz and Athletic Director Dane Pavlovich have given me, and I will be working diligently to make the men's and women's soccer programs prominent athletically and academically in the SLIAC and NCAA."

Taylor carries many accomplishments during his time at Illinois College. They include five consecutive men's Mayor's Cup titles and a 2009 fifth-place finish in the Midwest Conference men's soccer standings. He concluded his career at Illinois College tied for most wins all-time by a coach in the history of men's soccer at Illinois College. Taylor carries 14 years of coaching experience as well as 17 years of playing experience.

"Shane brings the MacMurray soccer program a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge," said athletic director Dane Pavlovich. "We are very excited to have Shane as a part of the Highlander coaching staff, and we look forward to reviving the proud soccer tradition at Mac."

Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University, where he majored in Organizational Management. He has also earned multiple NSCAA coaching diplomas. He is married to wife Misty and has four children. The family resides in Winchester.
