Four SLIAC Players Named To NSCAA All-Region Team, Bordelon Coach of Year

Four St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Soccer All-Central Region Team, marking the first time in three seasons the conference has placed multiple players on the All-Region team. In addition Westminster College head coach Andrew Bordelon was named the Division III Central Region Coach of the Year.

Michael McDonough of Westminster College earned Second Team honors while Julio De Leon of Spalding University, Zach Meyer of Fontbonne University and Jacob Stieb of Webster University were each named to the Third Team. This marks the first time since the 2010 season the SLIAC has placed multiple players on the NSCAA All-Region team. That year Greenville College had three players named to the squad.

McDonough, a senior midfielder from St. Louis, Mo., helped Westminster to a historical run this past season, advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. McDonough recorded three goals and three assists this past season while earning Second Team All-Conference honors.

De Leon, a sophomore midfielder from Louisville, Ky., earned First Team All-Conference honors this past season after recording four goals and 10 assists for Spalding. He led the conference in assists for the second consecutive season and ranked 17th in Division III in assists per game.

Meyer, a senior forward from Florissant, Mo., was named the 2013 SLIAC Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring during conference play. He finished the year with 18 goals and two assists for 38 total points while adding six game winning goals for Fontbonne. He ranked 18th in the nation in goals per game and also earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Stieb, a junior midfielder from Highland, Ill., earned First Team honors this past season after being a key member of a Webster defense that allowed just 22 goals all season long, the lowest total in the conference. In addition Stieb chipped in with one goal this season.

Westminster head coach Andrew Bordelon earned Central Region Coach of the Year honors after leading the Blue Jays to the school's first ever SLIAC Tournament Championship and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championship for just the second time in program history. Bordelon, in his first season as head coach, finished the year with a 13-9-1 overall record and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Division III National Championship.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization and serves members at every level of the game.
