2014 Men's Soccer Players of the Week

NOV. 3 - MIKE WELLS, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY (OFFENSIVE)
               IAN McREYNOLDS, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY (DEFENSIVE)

(Offensive) Wells, a senior from Florissant, Mo., scored the only goals of the week for the Gorloks as they recorded a pair of conference wins and finished an undefeated SLIAC season. Wells tallied the game winning goal on a penalty kick in a 1-0 win over Greenville just 11-minutes into the contest. Later in the week he added the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Fontbonne, scoring early in the second-half on a free kick from just outside the box.

(Defensive) McReynolds, a senior from Florissant, Mo., helped the Gorloks record a pair of shutouts in their regular season finales, winning each game 1-0. McReynolds and the Gorloks kept Greenville off the board with McReynolds then adding two saves in a shutout of Fontbonne four days later. With the shutouts McReynolds extended his current scoreless streak in net to 459-minutes.

OCT. 27 - ADEN ABDIRAHMAN, SPALDING UNIVERSITY (OFFENSIVE)
                 RAUL BELMAN ROMERO, WESTMINSTER COLLEGE (DEFENSIVE)

(Offensive) Abdirahman, a sophomore forward from Louisville, Ky., had an impressive week as Spalding recorded a pair of conference wins. He recorded two goals and two assists in his team's win over Eureka. Abdirahman added a game winning goal in his team's 2-0 win over Fontbonne. On the week Abdirahman finished with three goals and two assists for eight total points with one game-winning goal.

(Defensive) Romero, a sophomore goalkeeper, allowed just one goal in two outings in net last week to earn Player of the Week honors. Romero allowed one goal while stopping four shots in his team's loss to Webster. He followed with a double overtime shutout win over Principia in which he stopped all five shots he faced. On the week Romero finished with a .900 save percentage and a 0.45 goals-against average, stopping nine shots in 200 minutes of action.

OCT. 20 - TIM MENZEL, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY (OFFENSIVE)
                  IAN McREYNOLDS, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) Menzel, a senior from Webster Groves, Mo., helped Fontbonne pick up two more conference victories and remain undefeated in SLIAC play. Menzel scored his team's first goal against Principia, helping the Griffins get on the board early. Menzel followed with two goals and two assists in his team's win over Eureka. Again Menzel asserted himself early, scoring his two goals in the game's first 10 minutes of play. On the week Menzel finished with three goals and two assists for eight total points. He currently leads the SLIAC in scoring.

(Defensive) McReynolds, a senior from Florissant, Mo., finished the week in net with a scoreless performance in two outings. Against MacMurray he played 45-minutes of scoreless action as he picked up the win. He followed that game with a two save effort in a scoreless tie against Principia College. On the week McReynolds finished with 155-minutes of scoreless time in net with two saves.

OCT. 13 - JACOB JONES, GREENVILLE COLLEGE (OFFENSIVE)
                 THOMAS CROWN, GREENVILLE COLLEGE (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) Jones, a sophomore from Litchfield, Ill., came up big in both of his team's games last week as he helped the Panthers get back into the win column. Jones scored the game tying goal with just eight-seconds left in regulation, sparking his team to an eventual 2-1 overtime win over Blackburn. Jones kept his magic alive when he netted his team's only goal in a double overtime win over Principia.

(Defensive) Crown, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., allowed just one goal in a pair of conference matches last week to pick up weekly honors. Crown made three saves in an overtime win over Blackburn and followed with a shutout win over Principia. Crown made six saves in the shutout win as he picked up his second shutout of the season. On the week Crown finished with a .900 save percentage and a 0.45 goals-against average. This marks the fourth time this season Crown has won Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OCT. 6 - DZANI DELIC, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY (OFFENSIVE)
               DARYL DORAN, WESTMINSTER COLLEGE (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) Delic, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., recorded his first career hat trick in a win over Eureka College. Delic notched the first three goals of the game, scoring all three in the first six-minutes of action. The win was the Gorloks second conference victory of the season and fourth overall win of the year.

(Defensive) Doran, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., is this week's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead Westminster to a 1-0 shutout win over Greenville College. Doran, a defender, anchored the Blue Jays defense that limited Greenville to just five shots in the game, two below their season average. Doran played all 90 minutes of the game as the Blue Jays defense recorded their second consecutive shutout and third shutout of the season.

SEPT. 29 - KEVIN SILCOX, PRINCIPIA COLLEGE (OFFENSIVE)
                  THOMAS CROWN, GREENVILLE COLLEGE (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) Silcox, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, netted a goal in each of the Panthers' contests this week as he helped his team record their first wins of the 2014 season. Silcox scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Rhodes, scoring just 22-minutes into the game. He helped the Panthers pick up their second win of the season, and first in conference play, with a goal at the 20-minute mark in his team's win over Eureka.

(Defensive) Crown, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., allowed just one goal in two games this week including a shutout win over conference foe Spalding. Crown stopped four of five shots faced against Benedictine-Springfield to start the week. Crown stopped all five shots against Spalding, blanking the Golden Eagles for the first time this season, recording his second shutout of the year. Crown finished the week with a 0.50 goals against average and a .900 save percentage, recording nine saves in 180 minutes of action.

SEPT. 22 - JORDAN YORK, GREENVILLE COLLEGE (OFFENSIVE)
                  THOMAS CROWN, GREENVILLE COLLEGE (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) York, a senior from Smithton, Ill., tallied the only goals of the week for Greenville. York gave the Panthers the lead with a goal in the 30th minute against Millsaps. After the game was tied early in the second half York netted the game winning goal in the 69th minute.

(Defensive) Crown, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., kept the Panthers in their game against #17 ranked Wheaton. Crown stopped 10 of 12 shots in the game including a penalty kick. Crown allowed just two goals in 90 minutes with the second goal coming late as Greenville pushed their attack forward in an attempt to score. Crown finished the week with an .833 save percentage.

SEPT. 15 - DREW COOK, WESTMINSTER COLLEGE (OFFENSIVE)
                  LOGAN SPENCER, SPALDING UNIVERSITY (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) Cook, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., is the Offensive Player of the Week after recording a goal in each of his team's games this past week, the only goals on the week for the Blue Jays. Cook scored his team's lone goal in a loss to Columbia but helped Westminster bounce back by netting the game winner in a 1-0 win over Millikin. Cook's two goals came on just six shots with his game winner against Millikin coming in double overtime.

(Defensive) Spencer, a junior from Henderson, Ky., is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after notching a shutout and allowing just two goals on the week. Spencer started the week with a four save shutout performance against Anderson. He added seven saves in a double overtime loss to Wabash and finished the week with an .846 save percentage.

SEPT. 8 - JULIO DE LEON, SPALDING UNIVERSITY (OFFENSIVE)
                THOMAS CROWN, GREENVILLE COLLEGE (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) De Leon, a junior, made his presence known in all three of Spalding's games last week. De Leon scored in each of his team's games finishing the week with three goals on eight shots. He started the week with the game winning goal against Hanover in overtime. He followed with goals against Thomas More and Defiance and was named to the Centre College All-Tournament Team.

(Defensive) Crown, a senior goal keeper from St. Louis, Mo., had another solid week in net as he allowed just two goals in two outings. Crown recorded 13 saves in a win over Illinois College, sparking a come from behind win for the Panthers. Crown also recorded four saves against Rose-Hulman, with the only goal coming off a deflection late in the game. On the week Crown finished with a 1.00 goals-against average with 17 saves and an .895 save percentage.

SEPT. 2 - MASON ROWE, MacMURRAY COLLEGE (OFFENSIVE)
                 TREVOR BRUNER, SPALDING UNIVERSITY (DEFENSIVE)
(Offensive) Mason Rowe, a senior from Marseilles, Ill., notched a hat-trick in his team's win over Northland this past weekend. Rowe started the game's scoring with a goal at the 20-minute mark. He added two more goals early in the second-half in sparking his team to their first win of the 2014 season.

(Defensive) Trevor Bruner, a junior from Jeffersonville, Ind., helped Spalding to a 1-0 shutout win over Muskingum University in their 2014 season opener. Bruner played all 90 minutes and led a defense that limited their opponent to just one shot on goal.
