Men's Soccer Wins at Westminster, 1-0, Unbeaten in SLIAC

Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team remained unbeaten, at 5-0-1, in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 1-0 win at Westminster College on October 22.  In beating the defending SLIAC Champs, the Gorloks hold on to at least second place in the conference.  Ian McReynolds had his third shutout of the season in the nets for Webster.

Dzani Delic (FR, St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS) scored the game winner late in the second half.  Delic scored his team-leading seventh goal off a head ball from Mike Wells (SR, McCluer North HS), who guided a cross from Brendan Shields (SO, St. Peter's, MO/Ft. Zumwalt East HS).  For Wells, it was his team-leading ninth assist on the season.

McReynolds (SR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) had an outstanding game in goal in blanking the Blue Jays.  McReynolds has not allowed a goal in his last 279 minutes in the nets, and has two shared shutouts in addition to his three solo.  He lowered his season goals against average to 1.58 as he evened his record on the year at 4-4-2.

Fontbonne, at 6-0 in the SLIAC, leads Webster by a half game. Westminster fell to third place at 4-1-1, with the loss.

Webster is 7-8-2 on the season overall.  The Gorloks host Blackburn College on October 25 at the Soccer Park.  It will be Senior Day and the Webster men will honor its 15 seniors on the squad in a pre-game ceremony.
