2015 Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Nov. 2
(Offensive) Alex Phillips, Fontbonne University
Phillips, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Mo., helped his team secure a final spot into the SLIAC Tournament by winning two games last week. Phillips tallied two goals in his team's 3-1 win over Principia, including the game winner. Needing a win in their final game, Phillips sparked a Griffin attack that defeated Iowa Wesleyan; recording a hat trick in the win and scoring three goals on just three shots. On the week he buried five goals on just eight shots for 10 points.

(Defensive) Tanner Touslee, Westminster College
Touslee, a sophomore from Olathe, Kan., anchored a Blue Jay defense that recorded a pair of shutouts against two of the top teams in the conference. Touslee and the Blue Jays blanked tournament bound Greenville, with Touslee adding two assists in the win. They followed with a 3-0 shutout win over Spalding, who just missed the tournament; adding another assist. On the week Touslee had three assists and helped extend the Blue Jays shutout streak to six games.

Oct. 26
(Offensive) Filip Delija, Webster University
Delija, a freshman from Chicago, Ill., stepped up his offensive output last week, totaling five goals in his team's three games. Delija scored his team's lone goal against Spalding, putting his team up just two minutes into the game. Delija netted his first collegiate hat trick in a win over Iowa Wesleyan, scoring on just four shots on goal. In a win over Findlandia Delija scored the game-tying goal with then sparked a three goal barrage by the Gorlok offense. He finished the week with five goals and 10 points.

(Defensive) Raul Belman, Westminster College
Belman, a junior from Celaya, Mexico, made two saves in his only appearance on the week in net for the Blue Jays, a 6-0 win over Principia. Belman picked up the two saves while playing just over 56 scoreless minutes. The win set a new Blue Jays record for Belman, as he became the program's career and season leader in wins. This marks the third time this season Belman has won the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week award.

Oct. 19
(Offensive) Alex Phillips, Fontbonne University
Phillips, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Mo., helped the Griffins to three wins on the week; including a pair of conference wins. Phillips assisted on his team's first goal against Spalding and then netted the game winner just 33-seconds later. On Sunday, in a non-conference contest, Phillips tallied a pair of goals in his team's 3-0 win, including the game-winner. On the week Phillips finished with three goals and one assist for seven total points.

(Defensive) Blake Hausman, Westminster College
Hausman, a sophomore from Columbia, Mo., picked up his second SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award this season by helping his team remain undefeated in conference play with two more wins last week. Hausman and the Blue Jays recorded two shutouts on the week, giving them three in a row and eight for the season. Hausman led a defense that allowed just nine total shots and only three shots on goal during the two wins last week. In addition he added two goals in his team's win over Webster.

Oct. 12
(Offensive) Josh Ripperger, Greenville College
Ripperger, a sophomore from Hillsboro, Mo., is typically known for his defense as he plays along the back line for the Panthers; however this week he stepped up his offensive attack and helped his team to a pair of conference wins. Ripperger netted the game winning goal against previously unbeaten Spalding, scoring with under 8-minutes remaining in the game. He followed by helping set up the game winning goal against Fontbonne; helping Greenville remain undefeated at 4-0 in the conference.

(Defensive) Raul Belman, Westminster College
Belman, is this week's SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Belman helped his team pick up two conference wins while coming up just short against #17 Washington-St. Louis. Belman played a scoreless half in net against MacMurray and recorded a shutout over Eureka, making one save. Against his nationally ranked foe Belman made eight saves in the 1-0 loss. On the week he finished with nine saves in 225-minutes, recording a 0.40 goals-against average. This is the second time this season Belman has picked up the weekly award.

Oct. 5
(Offensive) Austin Pierce, Webster University
Pierce, a junior from O'Fallon, Mo., takes home SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors after rallying his team to a 3-2 conference win over Eureka. Pierce put the Gorloks up 2-1 in the game with a goal just before halftime. After the game was tied back up Pierce netted the game-winner at 87:57 to secure the victory for the Gorloks in regulation.

(Defensive) Blake Hausman, Westminster College
Hausman, a sophomore from Columbia, Mo., helped his team to a conference win over Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday. Hausman was part a defense that held their opponents to no shots in the contest. He also notched a goal in the win, which extends the Blue Jays winning streak to eight games.

Sept. 28
(Offensive) Jonny Madrid, Greenville College
Madrid, a freshman from Grayslake, Ill., netted a hat trick in his team's only game last week, a 7-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan. Madrid scored just three-minutes into the game and added a second goal just over 10-minutes later. He completed the hat trick with a goal on a penalty kick mid-way through the second-half. Madrid maintained his season long efficiency, scoring his three goals on just three shots. On the year he has placed all 16 of his shots on net, holding a 44-percent shot percentage; tops in the conference.

(Defensive) Richie Hershkowitz, Greenville College
Hershkowitz, a senior from Galesburg, Ill., helped his team to a shutout win over Iowa Wesleyan; extending the Panthers winning streak to three games. Hershkowitz played all 90 minutes in the game as the Greenville defense limited Iowa Wesleyan to just one shot on goal and two shots overall. The Panther defense has now put together three consecutive shutouts.

Sept. 21
(Offensive) Tripp Sheehan, Westminster College
Sheehan, a junior from Columbia, Mo., was key in helping his team go 3-0 on the week, assisting on five of his team's seven goals on the week. Sheehan set up two goals in his team's 3-2 win over Central (Iowa). He followed by assisting on the game winning goal in a 1-0 win over Simpson. Sheehan concluded his week with two more assists, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 win over Augustana (Ill.). On the week Sheehan finished with five assists in three games. Sheehan now leads the SLIAC in assists as Westminster extended their active winning streak to six games.

(Defensive) Ian Hodge, Greenville College
Hodge, a freshman from Pleasant Hill, Mo., put together back to back shutouts last week. Hodge's only loss on the week was a 2-1 decision against Illinois College in which one of two goals allowed was on a penalty kick. He made a week high of six saves in the contest. Hodge blanked Rhodes with a five save performance and extended his scoreless net-minding streak with a 1-0 shutout overtime win over Hendrix, making three saves. In three games on the week Hodge totaled 14 saves on 16 shots on goal, an .875 save percentage.

Sept. 14
(Offensive) James Bowen, Eureka College
Bowen, a freshman from Homer Glen, Ill., picked up SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the week honors after helping his team extend their winning streak to three games to open the season. Bowen played a role in four of his team's five goals on the week. In a 2-1 win over conference foe Iowa Wesleyan, Bowen netted one goal. He followed with two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in a 3-2 win over Rockford. On the week Bowen finished with three goals and one assist for seven points while putting eight of his 12 shots on net.

(Defensive) Raul Belman, Westminster College
Belman, a junior from Celaya, Mexico, tallied a blank sheet in his only appearance in net last week, a 1-0 win over Ozarks (Ark.). Belman made six saves in the shutout win and lowered his league leading goals-against average to a 1.00 mark on the season.

Sept. 7
(Offensive) Drake Trease, Westminster College
Drake Trease, a senior from Nixa, Mo., helped the Blue Jays to a pair of wins in the opening week of the season as he recorded two goals and two assists in three games. Trease notched his team's only goal in a loss to Millikin but responded with a goal and assist in a his team's win over Lakeland. He closed out the week with an assist in a 4-0 win over Illinois College. On the week Trease finished with six total points, putting five of 13 shots on goal.

(Defensive) Logan Spencer, Spalding University
Logan Spencer, a senior from Henderson, Ky., picked up a pair of wins in net last week for the Golden Eagles, holding a 1.60 goals against average. Spencer allowed four goals in three games, with two of the goals coming on penalty kicks. He totaled seven saves on the week including five against Mount St. Joseph. He finished with a .636 save percentage in 225-minutes of action on the week.
