2016 Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Oct. 31
(Offensive) Drake Trease, Westminster College
Westminster's Drake Trease is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Trease, a senior, propelled the Blue Jay offense to a pair of conference wins last week. Trease recorded three goals and two assists in the two games as he helped Westminster secure a #2 seed in the upcoming SLIAC Tournament. Trease recorded a goal and an assist in his team's 4-0 win over Fontbonne and followed with two goals and an assist in their 5-0 win over MacMurray. Trease leads the SLIAC in both total points (32) and goals (14) this season.

(Defensive) Joey Lesher, Spalding University
Joey Lesher, a senior from Spalding University, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The defender not only led the Golden Eagle defense to a pair of conference wins, securing the program's first ever regular season conference title, but he added a goal in each of the two games. The Lesher led defense picked up a 1-0 shutout win over Webster, holding the Gorloks to just two shots on goal. Lesher also netted the game's only goal. He followed with another goal in a win over Iowa Wesleyan that capped an undefeated conference season for Spalding.

Oct. 24
(Offensive) Osman Hussein, Spalding University
Osman Hussein is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Hussein, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., kept the score keepers busy last week; recording four goals and three assists while helping Spalding pick up two conference wins. Against Greenville Hussein sparked the Golden Eagles in a come from behind win by scoring the first of his team's seven consecutive goals. He finished the game with two goals and an assist in the 7-3 win. Hussein then added two goals and two assists in a 5-1 win over MacMurray.

Oct. 17
(Offensive) Kornell Hilliard, Spalding University
Kornell Hilliard from Spalding University is this week's SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Hilliard, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., recorded four total points in his team's 6-0 win over Eureka on Saturday, helping Spalding win their sixth consecutive game and remain undefeated in conference play. Hilliard set up the game's first goal just 11-minutes into the action. He followed with a goal of his own just two minutes later and tacked on another assist in the second-half. On the year Hilliard has five goals and three assists for 13 total points.

(Defensive) Kyle Hertel, Webster University
Kyle Hertel, a freshman from Sandpoint, Idaho, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Hertel recorded a shutout win over Principia, stopping all six shots he faced in net. This marks the second time this season Hertel has won the weekly award, also winning on Sept. 26. Hertel is now 3-3 on the season and holds a 1.45 goals against average.

Oct. 10
(Offensive) Kyle Collins, Westminster College
Kyle Collins is this week's SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Collins, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., guided the Blue Jays to a pair of conference wins last week. Collins set up the only goal in his team's 1-0 win over Webster, feeding Drake Trease with just seven minutes left on the clock. Collins got the offense going early in his next game, a 6-0 win over Eureka, netting a goal just three-minutes into the game en route to four Westminster first-half goals. He also added an assist on the game's third goal. On the week Collins finished with a goal and two assists, and was a part of two game winning goals.

(Defensive) Blake Hausman, Westminster College
Blake Hausman, a junior from Columbia, Mo., is this week's SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Hausman anchored the Blue Jays defense which recorded two shutout wins over conference opponents and limited their foes to just three combined shots on goal in the two games. Hausman and the Blue Jay defense kept the league's leading scorer under wraps in a 6-0 win over Eureka and blanked Webster in a 1-0 win that handed the Gorloks their first conference loss of the year. The Blue Jays defense held both opponents to less than half their average shots per game during their contests.

Oct. 3
(Offensive) Ryan Dudley, Fontbonne University
Fontbonne's Ryan Dudley is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Dudley, a junior from Eureka, Mo., netted a hat trick that propelled an offensive explosion for the Griffins. Entering their game Fontbonne had just three goals on the season but Dudley quickly pushed that total upwards in the 8-0 win. He scored just five-minutes into the start of the game and added his second goal 10-minutes later. He completed the hat trick with a goal early in the second-half. Dudley scored his three goals on just four shots on goal and six shots overall.

(Defensive) Ryan Glynn, Spalding University
Ryan Glynn, a senior from Louisville, Ky., is this week's SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Glynn helped the Golden Eagles hand Westminster College their first SLIAC loss since 2014. Glynn stopped all eight shots he faced in his team's 1-0 win over the Blue Jays, blanking the league's top scoring team. The win marks the second consecutive conference win for Spalding and is Glynn's third shutout of the season, most in the SLIAC.

Sept. 26
(Offensive) James Bowen, Eureka College
James Bowen is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Bowen totaled two goals and an assist in three games last week, helping the Red Devils to a pair of wins. Bowen helped set up the game tying goal in his team's 2-1 win over Blackburn. He followed by scoring the only two goals of the game in a 2-0 win over MacMurray. He currently leads the conference in both total points (17) and goals scored (7).

(Defensive) Kyle Hertel, Webster University
Kyle Hertel, a freshman from Sandpoint, Idaho, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Making just his second start this season Hertel recorded a shutout win over Greenville College. Hertel stopped all three shots he faced as he recorded his first collegiate win in the Gorloks' 2016 SLIAC opener.

Sept. 19
(Offensive) Bernardo Oseguera, MacMurray College
MacMurray College's Bernardo Oseguera is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Oseguera shined in a 6-0 win over Central Christian College. Oseguera started the game's scoring at the 34-minute mark. He added a second goal just six minutes later and finished the game with four goals on just five shots. He is currently tied for the conference lead in goals this season with five.

(Defensive) Charles Dalton, Greenville College
Charles Dalton, a sophomore from Greenville College, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Dalton anchored the Panther backline that allowed just one goal while recording two wins last week. Dalton played all 182 minutes on the week, limiting opponents to just seven shots on goal in the two games. Dalton was key in preventing the opposition from setting up by winning several battles in the air.

Sept. 12
(Offensive) Edgar Bueno, Greenville College
Greenville College's Edgar Bueno, a sophomore midfielder, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Bueno, from Bellflower, Calif., overcame an injury early in the week to notch a goal in each of his games played on the week. In his first game back from an injury he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Robert Morris-Springfield, netting the goal at the 18 minute mark, despite limited playing time. Bueno was again the lone goal scorer for the Panthers in their 1-1 tie against Ozarks (Ark.), scoring the game tying goal at the 67-minute mark of the contest.

Sept. 5
(Offensive) James Bowen, Eureka College
James Bowen, a sophomore from Seneca, Ill., helped the Red Devils to a 5-2 win in their 2016 season opener. Bowen tallied the first four goals of the game and added an assist on his team's fifth goal. Bowen got the scoring started in the 27th minute of the game. With his team leading just 1-0 at halftime Bowen scored three goals in under two minutes in the second-half to open up the game. Bowen tallied his four goals on nine shots, putting six on goal.

(Defensive) Eli Smith, Webster University
Eli Smith, a freshman goalkeeper, is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Smith saw action in his team's 3-2 win over McMurry, recording six saves and a .750 save percentage. After being shaken up on a save Smith returned just one minute later to complete the win for the Gorloks.
