Spalding Men's Soccer Teams Up With Louisville Metro Parks

The Spalding University men's soccer team took part in a spring community outreach event after practice this past Friday, collaborating with Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation.

After their morning training session, the team went to Ben Washer Park, a couple blocks west of Spalding's campus in downtown Louisville, and cleaned up garbage, trash and debris in the area. The two-acre park has a playground, picnic tables, and a sheltered area that serves as a venue for SoBro families to come and play.

"We are always looking for ways to get involved and give back to the Louisville community," Head Coach Adam Boyer commented. "This was a great opportunity for us to help out close to campus and make a small difference in Spalding's surrounding area."

Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation Service was established in 1968 when the Louisville City Parks Department and Jefferson County Parks Department merged. They currently oversee over a hundred parks and recreational facilities in the Louisville Metro Area. Their vision is to keep Louisville a clean, green, safe and inclusive city where people love to live, work and play.
